Discover the St. Francis Fine Arts Tradition
The St. Francis Fine Arts building was a gift from the Paul D Polhamus family.
Within the walls of this stand-alone building is a treasured environment where our students are encouraged to express themselves through their musical and artistic talents .
We teach the fine arts through a Christian Heritage program created by Sr. Marie Vianney Hamilton, O.P. This program begins with lessons focused first on prehistoric times and then steps all the way through to the modern era. Along the way, the students are given many forms of medium to work with: crayons, colored pencils, felt tipped pens, oil pastels, chalk pastels, watercolor paint, tempura paint, acrylic paint and underglazes.
Our canvases can be as simple as paper bags, or as varied as fusing glass and sculptures with clay.
Our students are encouraged to appreciate art historically through the eyes of the divine, and to bridge a gap from their own efforts and those of the masters.
The art room is a well designed space with lots of natural light and plenty of room; equipped with a ceramic and a glass fusing kiln.
music program
Our music program seeks to provide our students the opportunity to worship, and deepen their relationship with Christ through their shared musical talents.
All students participate in the weekly school mass. The fourth grade’s curriculum is based on singing as a choir, and they are given the responsibility to lead the congregation on a weekly basis. Once a month at our Sunday Family mass, all students are again welcome to participate in our choir, and to worship Christ with the community, through a specially designed music program.
