Faculty and Staff

St. Francis Catholic School’s professional faculty and staff are dedicated to providing students with an exemplary educational experience. To insure our dedication to focusing on the whole child (spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, and physical), St. Francis Catholic School teachers work long hours leading students to grow in faith, experience a love of learning, strive for academic excellence, and to discover their own unique talents and abilities. Our student-teacher ratio is kept low; the average class size is 18, enabling each teacher to provide each student with the individual attention we believe they deserve.

Academic teachers possess state certification and degrees specific to the grades and subjects that they teach. Several staff members have been recognized for excellence in the teaching profession by organizations such as WTOC Television and the South Carolina Independent School Association. The staff also includes several “specials” area teachers for physical education, art, music, media science, and technology, as well as several teachers’ assistants, office support, a registered nurse, maintenance director, and custodial staff. Each member of the staff is committed to the school’s mission and active in the life of the parish.

Meet Our Principal

Mr. Brian Pope became principal in 2012. Mr. Pope has been with St. Francis Catholic School for over a decade, serving as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal. As principal, he is the head of the school and works closely with Father Mike Oenbrink, pastor of St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church. An elected school board, headed by a facilitator, plays an important consultative role for the school’s administration.
